해운업의 탈탄소화를 위해 연료 선택은 필수적인 결정

DNV GL 선급협회가 ‘2050 해운 전망 (Maritime Forecast 2050)’의 네 번째 에디션을 발표했다. ‘2050 해운 전망’ 의 목적은 해운 이해 관계자, 특히 선주로 하여금 업계의 기술, 규제 및 시장 불확실성을 탐색하고, 해상운송을 탈탄소화 경로로 설정하는 능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 하는 데 있다. 이 보고서는 향후 선단(fleet) 구성, 에너지 사용, 연료 혼합 및 CO2 배출량을 2050년까지 예측하는 30개의 시나리오를 기반으로 한다. 보고서에는 16가지 다른 연료 유형과 10가지 연료 기술 시스템이 모델링 되어 있다.

DNV GL awards AIP to KSOE for wing sail propulsion system

DNV GL has awarded an Approval in Principle (AIP) to Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (KSOE) for a wing-sail auxiliary propulsion system for ships - the result of a joint research project between KSOE and SK Shipping. The virtual award ceremony recently took place in the presence of Hyunjoon Shin, Head of the Future Ship Research Department of KSOE, Haeyong Son, Vice President of SK Shipping, and Sung Ho Shin, Key Account Manager of DNV GL Korea.

DNV GL: Fuel choice the essential decision as shipping charts a generational path to decarbonization

DNV GL – Maritime has released the fourth edition of its Maritime Forecast to 2050. The purpose of Maritime Forecast to 2050 is to enhance the ability of shipping stakeholders, especially shipowners, to navigate the technological, regulatory and market uncertainties in the industry, and set shipping on a pathway to decarbonization. It is based on a library of 30 scenarios which project future fleet composition, energy use, fuel mix, and CO2 emissions to 2050. Sixteen different fuel types and 10 fuel technology systems are modelled in the report.

DNV GL launches new certification in infection prevention for the maritime industry

DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society, has launched a new certification in infection prevention for the maritime industry. The release of this custom certification aims to help the maritime industry resume operations better prepared for COVID-19 or other emerging pathogens. Genting Cruise Lines is the first customer working towards the CIP-M certification for their vessel Explorer Dream under the Dream Cruises brand.

New DNV GL class notation helps to boost LPG as ship fuel

As the maritime industry looks to reduce emissions to air and work towards the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) greenhouse gas reduction strategy, alternative fuels are coming to the fore. Classification society DNV GL, recognizing that, with the exception of LNG, international regulations for such fuels are absent, developed new class rules and a class notation “Gas fuelled LPG” for using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel in anticipation of growing industry interest. A respective announcement was made today at Marintec trade fair in China.
