최근 DNV와 WBCSD(World Business Council for Sustainable Development)의 조사에 따르면, 순환 경제는 여러 지역에서 기업의 의제로 부상하고 있는 것으로 드러났다.
글로벌 선급 및 인증기관 DNV(노르웨이 선급협회)가 ‘2021 에너지 전환 전망(Energy Transition Outlook 2021)’ 보고서를 발간하고, 지금 즉시 범 글로벌 차원에서 모든 전기 생산을 신재생 에너지 체제로 전환해도 2015년 파리에서 개최된 제21차 유엔 기후변화협약 당사국 총회(파리 협약)에서 결의된 2050년 탄소 중립 목표를 달성하기에는 턱없이 부족한 상황이라고 밝혔다.
DNV는 ‘2050 해운 전망’ 보고서를 통해 선박 설계 단계에서의 탄소 리스크 관리, 연료의 기술·경제적 평가, 접근법 변화에 따른 선박 설계 등을 시스템화해 선주들에게 제공한다. 특히 ‘단계별 탈탄소화 모델’은 개별 선주들이 온실가스 감축 규제에 지속적으로 대응할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 있다.

DNV, the world’s leading classification society, has released the latest updates to its rules for ship classification, with a raft of new class notations designed to enable the maritime industry to tackle the decarbonization challenge. The new updates include “Fuel Ready”, a class notation that offers shipowners the option to prepare for a later conversion to multiple different alternative fuel options, and “Gas fuelled ammonia” for ammonia fuelled vessels, to stay ahead of shipping’s ever tightening carbon reduction requirements.
