DNV Software in Korea & Japan and Chiyoda Advanced Solutions (ChAS) signed a Software Distribution Agreement in Busan on 19 August, 2010.
Mr. Masahiro Watanabe, president & CEO of ChAS, visited our Busan office to sign the agreement and to further discuss how to develop the Safeti, Sesam and AIMS (Asset Integrity Management Solution) business in Japan.
ChAS, who is using Phast Risk, Maros and Taro, has good knowledge of our products. They are a global engineering and consulting company, providing various engineering solutions based on highly advanced technologies developed in the plant engineering industry over many years. ChAS was formally established in 2002 as a group company of Chiyoda Corporation, who is one of the largest engineering companies in Japan, in order to develop new engineering solution business. ChAS has performed four major fields of services; computer aided engineering, material and risk consulting, plant IT & system integration, and space engineering for various plant asset owners and public sector organizations. Head office of ChAS is located at Yokohama, Japan.
Through the fruitful discussions between both parties, Mr. Shin, Area Manager for DNV Software in Korea & Japan, and Mr. Watanabe agreed to develop the Japanese market with following strategy for the next three years and ChAS promised to achieve yearly sales volume of 2.0 Mil USD in Japan until end of 2013:
Safeti QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment), RBI (Risk Based Inspection) and Performance Forecasting for the Japanese process industry
ChAS will supply Safeti products to major Japanese process industry companies who have capability to utilize Safeti software products. In parallel, ChAS will provide consulting service for small and medium size Japanese companies in order to extend with new Safeti users.
Consulting Service with Safeti Products for Middle East Market
ChAS provides exclusively its asset integrity management consulting service for Middle East oil & gas companies whose plants were designed and constructed by Chiyoda Corporation. In the part of ChAS total service, ChAS will provide consulting service related to risk assessment and asset integrity management with the Safeti and AIMS products.
Collaboration for AIMS Promotion
Both parties have agreed to develop Asset Integrity Management Solution business gradually for the Japanese and Middle East markets with the above mentioned AIM competence of ChAS and technical service from DNV Software.
Sesam for Engineering and Shipbuilders
Major engineering companies, research institutes and offshore structure and topside builders can be defined as potential Sesam users. For these companies, Chiyoda/ChAS is currently using Star-CD, CFX and Fluent+Abaqus, for fluid structure coupling problems of FPSOs. With the competence and technical support from DNV Software, both parties will maximize on the synergy effect from promoting Sesam.
As a first step for mutual collaboration, a software session will be held in the ChAS Forum and a Safeti Seminar including topics like Quantitative Risk Assessment, Performance Forecasting an Asset Integrity Management Solutions will be arranged in November 2010.
