The materials technology group, as part of the section for Materials Technology and Pressure Equipment, is responsible for plan approvals, type approvals and approval of manufacturers related to materials for which requirements are stated in the DNV Rules, such as;

For all important parts of classed objects the DNV Rules require that materials shall be certified, and that they shall be delivered from an approved manufacturer. The aim is to secure that materials arriving at a yard, and intended for a DNV classed object, comply with the requirements of the DNV Rules.
