Approval+of+manufacturer

This service provides thousands of certificates issued by DNV within the maritime area. The certificates contain information about manufacturers found to comply with international standards, regulations and the DNV Rules.

DNV rules require that materials for the most important parts of the ship are produced by a DNV approved manufacturer.

Approval procedure comprises inspection of the manufacturing plant, and testing to verify that the material quality complies to the requirements of the rules. Details are given in approval programs, that are worked out for amongst others, the following categories:

  • Steelmaking and rolled steel products
  • Steel Forgings
  • Foundries – Casting of steel, iron, aluminium alloys and copper alloys
  • Wrought aluminium alloys
  • Steel tubes, pipes and fittings
  • Non-ferrous tubes
  • Chain cables
  • Steel wire ropes

After completion of the approval process, an approval certificate is issued, and the manufacturer is included in the internet list of approved manufacturers.
