선급 서비스의 일부분으로, DNV는 선박과 해양구조물에 사용되는 주요 기기 및 기자재에 대해 선급/관련 규격/국제협약 등의 규정에 따라 검사를 하고 제품 인증서를 발급합니다.
DNV의 기자재 검사는 노르웨이 본사에 있는 약 150여 명의 각 기술 분야의 전문자들을 비롯하여 전세계 각 지사에 있는 기자재 검사관들에 의해 실시되고 있습니다. DNV는 다음과 같은 분야들에 대한 기자재 검사를 제공하고 있습니다:

Type approval
A service for approval of standard products made in series. With Type Approval, one approval is made valid for all covered products.
Approval of manufacturer
A service to verify manufacturer's ability to deliver materials/products complying with the requirements of DNV rules.
Approval of Service Suppliers
A service to verify the supplier's ability to deliver information which is used as basis for DNV class decisions.
Capability reviews (MPQA)
- a rating tool developed by DNV. DNV offers a product-focused assessment of manufacturers' ability to control product quality.

Easy access to material declarations is essential when compiling inventories for new ships.
