As a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), DNV has agreed on simplified procedures for class entries from other member societies.
For timely and efficient transfer of your ship to DNV, simply contact your local DNV office.
Together we will agree on:
Scope of work
Documentation requirements
Certificates to be issued
Your local DNV surveyor will confirm in writing the class entry offer. When the Memo of Understanding is signed by the owner, it allows DNV to obtain complete survey status and conditions of class from the previous class society. Once the date and place for class entry are decided, an exclusive DNV surveyor will attend the vessel and carry out the survey according to:
Agreed scope of work
Class status from the previous society's records
On completion of this survey, Interim Class and Statutory Certificates will be issued. DNV provides additional assistance in collecting the necessary documents and promptly appraising them, given that they have already been approved by another IACS society. Full-term certificates will then be issued.
For older vessels we will carry out a non-committal pre-entry survey before we start the class entry process.
