Ships that comply with additional requirements given in the DNV Rules for Classification of Ships, part 5, or the DNV Rules for High Speed, Light Craft and Naval Surface Craft, Part 5, will be given a ship type class notation.

Mandatory and optional ship type class notations are listed and categorised in the DNV Rules for Classification of Ships, Part 1, chapter 2, table B3, B4 and C1, and the DNV Rules for High Speed, Light Craft and Naval Surface Craft, B500.
